Active Silicon’s unique DMA Engine technology, “ActiveDMA,” is used in FireBird to ensure maximum performance. This technological breakthrough uses RISC-based processing approaches to ensure high-speed, low-latency image data transfers with no CPU involvement.
FireBird CoaXPress Frame Grabber is a popular high-speed imaging transmission standard for professional and industrial applications that has recently been enhanced to accommodate the faster CXP-10 and CXP-12 rates. Each CoaXPress link can provide up to 12.5 Gbps data rates, 13W device power, and 42 Mbps device control — all over a single coax cable. The lines can be concatenated to offer multiples of the single coax bandwidth for speedier devices.
ActiveSDK, Active Silicon’s software development kit, supports FireBird. This can be purchased separately and enables for quick system development and integration. It includes extensive sample applications and optimised libraries, as well as support for a range of operating systems, including Windows, Linux (64-bit environments), and QNX, via a common API. Drivers for third-party applications like as Cognex VisionPro, HALCON, Common Vision Blox, StreamPix, LabVIEW, and others are also available.
The drivers feature full GenICam functionality, which includes a GenTL Producer for data streaming and register accesses. The libraries also offer general-purpose functions for picture modification and display, in addition to hardware control operations. ActiveSDK is described in depth in a separate datasheet.
